FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Starting therapy can come with a lot of questions. We want the process to feel clear, supportive, and easy to navigate. Here are answers to some of the questions we hear most often.
Getting Started
How do I get started?
The best first step is to book a free connection call. During that call, we can learn more about your needs, answer questions, talk through insurance or private pay, and help match you with the therapist or service that feels like the best fit.
What is a connection call?
A connection call is a brief consultation designed to help you take the next step with clarity. It is a chance to share what you are looking for, ask questions, and see whether Soul Purpose feels like the right fit for you before scheduling your first appointment.
How soon can I get an appointment?
Availability can vary by therapist, but we often have appointments available within 1–2 weeks. During your connection call, we’ll review current openings and help you get scheduled as soon as possible.
What happens after I book a connection call?
After your connection call, we’ll match you with a therapist based on your needs, preferences, and availability. You’ll then receive intake forms and a link to schedule your first session. Your first sessions is not confirmed until you complete all intake forms required.
Services & Fit
What services do you offer?
Soul Purpose offers individual therapy, couples counseling, family therapy, group counseling, EMDR therapy, professional consulting, and qualified supervision for mental health interns. Our team supports clients in a compassionate, trauma-informed setting.
Do you offer in-person or virtual therapy?
We offer both in-person sessions in Tampa, Florida and secure telehealth sessions for clients located anywhere in Florida.
Do you offer therapy for teens, adults, couples, or families?
We work with individuals, couples, and families. Availability for specific age groups or services may vary by therapist, so we’ll help match you with the best fit during your connection call.
What concerns do you help with?
We support clients with concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, stress, grief, relationship issues, family conflict, life transitions, self-esteem, anger management, addiction, coping skills, racial identity, mood disorders, body image concerns, and more.
What types of therapy do you use?
Our practice uses approaches such as CBT, mindfulness-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, family and marital therapy, motivational interviewing, multicultural approaches, trauma-focused care, and EMDR. Your therapist will tailor the work to your goals and needs.
Do you offer EMDR therapy?
What if I don’t feel like my therapist is the right fit?
That’s completely okay. Finding the right therapist can take time. If something doesn’t feel aligned, we can help you transition to another therapist within our practice.
Can I request a specific therapist?
Yes. If you already have someone in mind, let us know. If they are unavailable, we can also recommend a therapist with a similar style and approach.
Cost, Insurance & Payment
Do you accept insurance?
Yes. Soul Purpose accepts several insurance plans, including Aetna, Cigna, Carelon, Florida Blue, Oscar, Oxford, UnitedHealthcare, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and Anthem EAP for Bank of America.
Insurance coverage can vary by therapist and plan, so we recommend confirming details during your connection call.
Can you help me find the right therapist on your team?
Yes. You do not have to figure it out alone. We can help match you with the therapist whose style, specialties, and availability best align with what you are looking for.
What if you don’t accept my insurance?
If we do not accept your insurance, you may still be able to work with one of our therapists using your out-of-network benefits.
Soul Purpose partners with Mentaya, a service that helps clients get reimbursed for therapy sessions through their insurance. This is a great option if you strongly prefer working with a specific therapist on our team or want to continue care with us.
Here’s how it works:
- You pay for sessions upfront
- Our team submits your sessions through Mentaya
- Mentaya handles the insurance claims and communication
- You receive reimbursement directly from your insurance provider
Mentaya charges a small 5% fee per claim, which covers all paperwork, insurance calls, and follow-ups. If a claim is not successfully submitted, the fee is fully refunded.
If you’re interested in using this option, let us know during your connection call and we’ll guide you through the next steps.
What are your private pay rates?
Current private pay rates are $150 for a 50-minute therapy session and $200 for couples therapy. If you have questions about payment options, our team can talk through them with you.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, all major debit and credit cards, as well as HSA and FSA cards.
Do you require a card on file?
Yes. A card on file is required for all clients. This helps streamline billing and ensures that any late cancellation or no-show fees can be processed if they occur.
What if I cannot afford therapy but still need support?
We understand that cost can be a barrier, and we want to help you explore your options. If you’re unable to afford therapy, we can discuss lower-cost alternatives, referrals, or resources that may better fit your situation.
Soul Purpose also works with initiatives like Loveland Foundation vouchers, which provide financial assistance for therapy to eligible individuals. Availability can vary, so we recommend mentioning this during your connection call so we can guide you through current options and next steps.
Scheduling & Policies
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Late cancellations or missed appointments may be subject to a fee.
Do you have a waitlist?
Some therapists may have a waitlist depending on demand. If that happens, we’ll offer alternative options or place you on the waitlist and keep you updated.
